About SAMA

Sefrou Association for Multidisciplinary Arts, SAMA, is a non-profit, independent organization based in Sefrou, Morocco. We are founded autonomously by a group of multidisciplinary members. Our mission is to co-create a cultural and arts movement in Sefrou’s old city, all the while engaging local, national and international communities. 

Purpose of the role

The old city of Sefrou, nestled at the base of the middle Atlas Mountains in Northern Morocco has a rich multicultural heritage. There is a big gap in the care and attention for Sefrous community and immediate environment. With the towns inspirational history as its muse, Sefrou Association for Multidisciplinary Arts, SAMA uses an arts and cultural program as a tool for dialogue and development.

Candidate Requirements

A reliable and self-governing individual with written and verbal communication skills (English essential) and experience in fundraising for non-for-profit entities.  Candidates would be expected to work from home and in any global time zone. This creative project, progressive team and social impacting role offer a fulfilling position to the right candidate, enabling flexibility in both schedule and location. 

Position/Responsibilities

  • Creation of a private fundraising events strategy for the association.
  • Responsible for 2 annual fundraising events, on the ground or virtual.
  • Virtual bi-monthly meeting, including the delivery of light reports and assessment.
  • Management of communication systems and keeping a tasks record.
  • Continual succession planning.

 

Skill/Experience Requirements

  • Superior level of written and verbal communication skills and excellent English language is essential.
  • Experience in the management of social events.
  • Previous work experience in fundraising, content writing or marketing.
  • To be able work efficiently and independently.
  • Must be able to prioritize effectively, work well under pressure at times, and meet deadlines.
  • Candidate must be able to clearly follow guidelines and ask questions when in need of clarification.
  • Experience in both a corporate workplace and fundraising is beneficial.

Working structure/ schedule

  • There are two choices of work contribution
  • 1. Part time – Approximately one / two days a week with no structured timetable. The role is likely to be more intense leading up to and following events or submission deadlines. A period of 6 months is asked for the initial commitment.
  • 2. Stay in Sefrou and be housed and hosted for up to 10 weeks, working 3-4 days a week in exchange for accommodation and cultural connections.  .
